This years final was held at Tynecastle Park, on Tuesday 7th May 2019, between Hutchison Vale FC and Lasswade Thistle FC. On a chilly evening, both teams set off at a brisk pace, attacking from end to end. Both keepers were kept busy, with Matthew Robertson in the Lasswade goal, pulling off a spectacular save in the 14th minute to keep the sides level.
Just as it looked like being goalless at halftime, Hutchison struck twice in 4 minutes, with Owen Wardell fininishing a good move in the 36th minute. 30 seconds after the restart, Jamie MacLeod powered in a header to make it 2-0 to Hutchie. Worse was to follow for Lasswade in the 45th minute, as Rayan Mohammed rounded the keeper to make it 3-0.
Lasswade's Kris Young was injured as he made a valiant attempt to stop the ball, colliding with the post. He was led off hobbling, back to the dugout. The crowd were mystified, as to why a substitute was not brought on. It later transpired that although Lasswade had a full subs bench stripped, the boys were all cup-tied.
Undeterred, Lasswade kept fighting and in the 60th minute Tyrone Core hit a cracker into the Hutchison net from the right hand corner of the box to make it 3-1. Chris Young bravely returned to fray, just in time to see Bayley Kilmionek tap in from 6 yards to make it 3-2.
Both sides went close to scoring again, with Lasswade hitting the woodwork, with keeper Brownlee static. However, Hutchison hung on to win a thoroughly entertaining match 3-2. Both sets of players were applauded at the final whistle by the large crowd in the Wheatfield Stand. The teams and match officials were then presented their medals by Val McAndrew, Willie Bauld's niece and Wilf McLauchlan, Chairman of the Willie Bauld Memorial Club.
